The STIHL HTA 160 battery-powered telescopic pole pruner is ideal for professionals working in forestry, landscaping, and orchards. Fitted with a telescopic shaft that can be quickly adjusted up to 405 cm, it’s capable of pruning, thinning and general maintenance of branches up to 20cm in diameter. The HTA 160 is battery powered – meaning it has low noise emissions, making it ideal for use in noise sensitive areas such as at hospitals, schools and housing estates too.
The STIHL HTA 160 is powered by lithium-ion batteries from the STIHL AP System and features a powerful EC motor plus a lightweight and robust magnesium transmission. For maximum cutting performance, the HTA 160 is fitted with a 3/8” P Picco Micro 3 (PM3) chain as standard but can also be fitted with a 1/4” P Picco Micro 3 (PM3) chain which is ideal for maintaining fruit trees.
The low weight of the cutting head makes manoeuvring between cuts easier too. It’s fitted with a sturdy branch hook too for gripping and removing loose cuttings. The control handle of the HTA 160 has an LED display for convenient control of the pole pruner too.
The HTA 160 comes with a protective foot as standard for protecting the motor casing from making contact with the ground. The air filter on the housing ensures that the engine is kept cool during work, improving the service life of the pole pruner.
The HTA 160 has a total length of 285 cm to 405 cm. It also has a mounting point for the STIHL Smart Connector 2 A on the power tool housing.

The telescopic shaft allows you to work at height from the ground. This is ideal for trimming high-up branches or cutting tall hedges. The telescopic shaft can be adjusted without tools.
This telescopic shaft has a square tube for especially precise cuts. This means excellent shaft rigidity when extended, which supports accurate positioning and precise performance when sawing branches at a greater distance.
Thanks to the sturdy branch hook, you can remove loose and cut branches from great heights.
Especially in the professional sector, low weight is of great importance for work. Thanks to the use of lightweight magnesium, you benefit from weight reduction without any compromise in terms of transmission robustness. This relieves the strain on you as you work and ensures that the power tool has a long service life.
For better directional control when aiming and sawing with your pole pruner, the direction guide has been integrated into the sprocket cover as a raised line.
With this power tool, you can insert the required battery from the STIHL AP-System directly into the engine housing. This increases your mobility and flexibility when working.
The air filter with fine metal mesh cleans the air and in this way ensures optimum engine cooling. As it is itself easy to clean, it also offers a long service life.
The protective foot supplied as standard prevents the housing from coming into direct contact with the ground. This protects the housing from dirt and moisture.
The IPX protection classes define the moisture protection of electrical or electronic devices. The moisture protection test is defined in different stages. IPX4 certifies protection against splashwater from all sides. Battery-powered tools with this certification are therefore designed for daily use, even in rainy conditions.
